JEWELRY & ART FOR DREAMERS WHO MAKE MAGIC HAPPEN

“The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers.
But above all, the world needs dreamers who do.” ― Sarah Ban Breathnach

Every dreamer carries a spark or inner magic that pushes them forward, even when the path is uncertain. That’s why Melissa Ng creates everyday armor to honor that unique magic—art, rings, pendants, and all sorts of talismans designed to protect, empower, and remind you that your dreams are worth fighting for.

Based in New York, Lumecluster began in 2012 as a passion project born from a love of fantasy and storytelling. The project quickly grew after the creation of her first Dreamer mask, expanding into collections rich with symbolism and inspired by nature, art history, and a fusion of East and West reflecting her lived experience as a Chinese American who embraces both.

Melissa’s work reflects her love for exploration and transformation, inviting you to embrace your own magic, find the beauty in your journey, and keep your light shining brightly in a world that often tries to dim it.

DEAR DREAMERS:

I bet there are days when it feels like your dreams are weighing you down or you’re worried about losing your way. You've probably had your share of setbacks and met people who didn’t understand your ambitions, but you kept going. Every day, you push forward hoping to leave your mark or make a difference. But sometimes when life gets heavy, it's easy to lose sight of who you are. On those days, you need something to remind you of your purpose and why you're on this journey in the first place.

THE STORY BEHIND "LUMECLUSTER"

That’s where Lumecluster comes in. It’s a word that came to me way back when I was thinking about those glowing watch dials (known as “lume”) that shine in the dark. But I was also thinking about the luminaries we look up to and aspire to be like.

And as we grow and evolve, we move from admiring the luminaries in our lives to becoming them. So, I combined "lume" and "cluster" to symbolize a gathering of luminaries—dreamers, storytellers, visionaries etc.—each striving to keep their light shining in a world that often tries to dim it. It can get real tough some days, though. But it's in those moments that we need to hold on the most. I get it. I'm still walking that path myself.

ABOUT MELISSA NG

As a self-taught artist born and raised in the vibrant chaos of New York, I understand what it’s like to chase big dreams in a city full of them.

I’ve faced my own share of ridicule but I kept going, driven not only by my own determination but also by the encouragement of the few who believed in me. And I know I’m blessed with having even a few cheerleaders in my life when others may have none.

Featured on sites like The Guardian, Tested with Adam Savage, Forbes, Insider, Oculus VR and more, my work strives to be more than pretty pieces of art and jewelry. I create designs for those who are forging their path and dare to dream.

INFLUENCES & INSPIRATIONS

As a child, I was captivated by the intricate mechanics inside my mother’s piano, which sparked my curiosity about how things are made and a desire to create things of my own.

As a Chinese American, I also grew up between worlds, immersed in both Western fantasy and the Chinese mythology of my cultural heritage. The many stories of heroes, deities, knights in shining armor, and epic adventures ignited a passion for learning and inspired me to go deeper into the histories behind Chinese artistic traditions, arms and armor, pianos, and so many other creations from around the world. This thirst for knowledge and meaning continues to shape my artistic vision at Lumecluster.

Today, my art and jewelry is a fusion of East and West, full of fantasy, history, and symbolism. But at its core, they all serve the same purpose: to protect, inspire, and remind you of your power.

Inspired by everything from fantasy novels to historical  armor, she sculpted creatures that weren’t just objects but companions, each with its own presence, purpose, and quiet magic. Her work is a reminder that wonder and creativity are not left behind in childhood but continued on throughout life. Through Lumecluster, her guardians now stand ready to accompany you on your own path, wherever it may lead.
