Tired? A Little Sanctuary for the Weary Traveler

Tired? A Little Sanctuary for the Weary Traveler

Dear Dreamer,

Last week, we previewed more chainmail, scale armor, and shields for the honorable knight for the November 8th release. This week, we preview the fourth layer, inspired by the days we need somewhere to rest.

In Chinese art, mountains are where heaven and earth meet, and where immortals, deities, and blessed beings were said to dwell. Ribbons wind around those beings as a sign that they are sacred, which is why they are called auspicious ribbons. Scholars sought the mountains too, for solitude, reflection, and refuge.

And it was believed one could find magical gourds and other magical growth in these mountains and caves of the immortals.

In Chinese myths, the gourd is a keeper of mini paradises or healing elixirs. Small gourds were also carried as charms that protected against harm or disease and associated with longevity.

In the new Gourd of Protection Pendants, mountains and caverns are detailed across the surface, like entrances to the realm of the immortals, so you can keep a piece of that sanctuary close.

The Mountain designs are small wearable landscapes. Like the original Mountain Ring in the Mending Collection, the new huggies and bracelet shift between mountain and river depending on how you look at them.

The Magic Ribbon designs, which join the Magic Ribbon Ring, carry on the reminder of the auspicious power you already hold.

More than anything, I hope these pieces remind you to make time and space for solitude and sanctuary.

Maybe yours is a workshop or a study like mine. Maybe it's a library, garden, park, or museum.

Wherever it is, let it be your mountain, tucked away in your own magical gourd as a place to return to and rest before facing the world again.

Rest well,

<3 Melissa
